Who is Mars2cold?
Mars2cold is more than just a stage name; it reflects who he is and how he views the world. "Cold" symbolizes how he has always felt, as his life has been a series of harsh moments and difficult situations. From friendships to relationships, financial struggles to challenging living conditions, each experience has shaped his music. His sound reflects these experiences, as he aims to convey the complexity of those feelings through his art. Rather than sticking to one style, his music culminates everything he has experienced and the various sounds that inspire him.
South Jersey Origins
Mars2Cold, a native of Willingboro, New Jersey, representing the vibrant South Jersey scene, began exploring music during the COVID-19 lockdown. He and his music collective, Nocturnal, spent those long days hanging out and creating music together. His brothers in the collective encouraged him to take music seriously. During this time, he faced many challenges, and making music became an outlet to process everything he felt. It saved his life, providing a consistent way to express his emotions and navigate the chaos around him.
Geek or Die
When asked about his favorite live performance, Mars says, "Hands down, my first live performance is my favorite." The basement show, "Geek or Die," was hosted by us at Lucid Media Blog and took place at The Citadel in Glassboro, near Rowan University. It was a smash hit, filled with both familiar and unfamiliar faces. "I was on stage with some super talented artists, like Jaidontleaveme and Cashcors. It had an intimate vibe, and I remember feeling nervous, but the energy in the room was undeniable. The connection with the crowd and the other artists was real, and I'll never forget the adrenaline of that first performance."
The Current State of the Live Music Scene
Mars2Cold believes the live music scene is thriving. "Many people say the scene is oversaturated, but I see it differently. I think it's starting to create space for new sounds and artists to emerge. It's an exciting time because people are evolving, experimenting with new styles, and taking risks in ways we haven't seen before."
Regarding recent trends, he loves many, but he admits he's not a fan of the current "hate bandwagon" trend. "The underground scene used to be a space for people who genuinely loved music, but now it feels like too many individuals just want to be the first to find the next big thing without truly appreciating the artistry. Sometimes, it feels more about the hype than the actual music."
Favorite Local Artists and Collaborators
"There is so much talent in the South Jersey area right now—way too much to mention everyone, but here are some names that come to mind: Richiexo, Cashcors, Devynamana, WiseboyJeremy, RellTheRemedy (underrated), MirsInterlude (heavily underrated), Jaidontleaveme, KillKxnny, Killherkay, MeloCartaa, $lim!, seasidewavy, Vxn Dxtch, 400 Kay em, the list goes on."
Mars and I think South Jersey is a hotbed for talent, and we're proud to be a part of it. As for collaborations, Richiexo is one of his favorites. "That's my brother, for real. Every time we work together, it's magic. We always bring out the best in each other, and I can't wait for the world to hear the next thing we drop. Trust me, the new stuff is about to be crazy—but I can't say too much just yet!"

Highlighting Dead or Alive
"Dead or Alive," Mars2Cold's newest album, is a perfect introduction to his music. It begins with a low-key track, "One Time !" featuring a distinctive groove that sets the vibe for the rest of the album. The trap and glitch hop sound creates a dreamy rap experience as an ideal entry point for those new to the evolving Soundcloud rap sound. The album showcases his versatility as an artist. Mars2Cold explains, "It's a reflection of everything I've been through, all wrapped up in a sound that anyone can relate to. It's raw, real, and a glimpse into the music I want to continue making—something that speaks to everyone, no matter where you're from or what you're going through."
Mars2cold's journey is just beginning, and with his passion for music and ability to connect with listeners, the future looks promising. We will watch his upcoming moves as he continues to carve out his unique space in the music scene.
