Tania Kennedy: A Trailblazer in the World of Sports Administration

Tania Kennedy is a trailblazer in the world of sports administration. She has worked tirelessly to achieve success in her career and has been recognized for her achievements with induction into two Hall of Fames. Her resume doesn't stop there though, join us while we take a closer look into her career as the Senior Director of Administration and Championships at the Big East Conference. Let's explore the impact that Tania has had on and off the court.

In her role at the Big East Conference, Tania oversees five different sports - indoor track, outdoor track, women's lacrosse, volleyball, and cross country. She is responsible for event and championship planning, in addition to promotions, marketing, and broadcasting. Under her leadership, the conference has seen a significant increase in both participation and viewership. Kennedy takes so much pride in what she does and emphasizes how she loves where her career has taken her. She thanks God in the process of explaining what her day-to-day looks like.

"You gotta have fun at work. My schedule is crazy because it's never the same. All these sports are going off at the same time and then there are group coaches meetings, flying out to events, handling issues such as weather delays and flight cancellations. I handle all of that. I enjoy what I'm doing with my job being able to travel. It's not your average 9-5 so I'm just going along with this ride and it definitely has been an amazing 12+ years in college sports."

She is a Hall of Famer at John P. Stevens High School in Edison, NJ, which won three national championships and one state sectional title from 2005 to 2009. She broke all records except for one, which was scoring, but she had an outstanding career in terms of assists, steals, three-pointers, and more. She focused on basketball throughout her high school career which led her to Saint Peter's University where she was also inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2014. She had no problem overcoming her lack of height, standing at 5 foot 2. Her Mamba Mentality and winning mindset are to thank for her success. She quotes her favorite Lil Wayne line "I never had height but I always had heart."

When asked what she wants people to remember her for, she stated that she wishes to remind others that they may be anybody they desire if they put their minds to it. Tania is an example of what hard work and dedication can accomplish. Simply a genuine person who genuinely cares about others and is there for those in need.

Kennedy then goes on to share her favorite Bible verse that she lives by, "Peter 5:7 - cast all your cares to Him because He cares for you. When I don’t know how I am going to get through it, I give it to God and I know He is going to take care of me. I know that He got me. My relationship with God is so important and so strong. I don’t even know what it is but I trust Him to do it."

From her career journey to date, it is evident that Tania's work ethic and dedication are unmatched. She is a prime example of what it means to be a leader in the sports industry and will continue to pave the way for future generations. We hope you enjoyed getting to know Tania Kennedy better.
