The NBA playoffs have been underway for a few weeks now, and they have been interesting to say the least. Some teams have exceeded expectations tremendously, while others have fallen short on their respective ends and seen their season come to an end as a result. While we still have two rounds left before finding out who will be this year’s NBA champion, there has been plenty for fans to be excited about as the first two rounds provided fans with the type of basketball that makes the NBA the best basketball league on the planet. Let us take a look at what has transpired in the NBA over the past few weeks, what teams remain in the playoff hunt, and who is poised to become the 2022 NBA champions.
As of today, only four teams remain in the hunt for an NBA championship: the Golden State Warriors, the Dallas Mavericks, the Boston Celtics and the Miami Heat. The first two are currently squaring off in the Western Conference finals after the Mavericks shocked the world and upset the #1 seeded Phoenix Suns, however Golden State secured their third win of the series Sunday evening and hold a commanding 3-0 lead over the Mavericks. Luka Doncic is having a stellar postseason that has basketball fans in absolute awe of his talent, posting playoff numbers comparable to the great Michael Jordan, but it hasn’t been enough to stop Steph Curry and company who appear to be poised to win their fourth title in the span of seven years. On the flip side, the Miami Heat have taken a 2-1 lead over the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference Finals. On Saturday, all eyes were on Bam Adebayo as he went on to post an incredibly impressive statline consisting of 31 points, ten rebounds, six assists and four steals that allowed Miami to take a one game lead in the series and put the Celtcs on their heels. Boston certainly isn’t going down without a fight though, with Jaylen Brown averaging nearly 30 points per game throughout the first three games of the series and doing everything in his power to keep the Celtics in the fight. They have the opportunity to tie the series at two games apiece when the Heat visit the Celtics at TD Garden again on Monday night.
The NBA playoffs are always a point of interest for basketball fans, and this year’s playoffs have certainly exceeded expectations thus far. Miami managed to contain the tandem of James Harden and Joel Embiid in Philadelphia, the Warriors managed to thwart the hopes of Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies, and Boston had their way with last year’s NBA champions in the Milwaukee Bucks. Now we just have to wait and see who will make their way to the promise land next month and win the 2022 NBA championship.
