Faith Rodriguez, a college student, has been modelling for two years and her height has never gotten in the way. Although she was hesitant to begin due to her 5'7 height, she says it was definitely something she wanted to do since she was young.
She started her modelling career when an opportunity arose from joining a fashion club at school. This series of events, commenced her modelling career and now she’s in between beauty and editorial.
Something to learn from Faith, “take the risk and go with the flow”. From her one opportunity, she began networking with photographers and flourishing within the modeling industry.
When I asked her what her favorite part of modelling is, she replied “my favorite part is the excitement of getting the perfect shot and working collaboratively with photographers”. Faith allows herself to be part of the creativity and embody conceptuality during her shoots.
The first image that comes to mind when I think about modelling is a 5”9, slim physique, walking mannequin. However, when talking to Faith, it has become apparent that the modelling industry is changing. There are many facets to the industry, and not everyone needs to fit the cookie cutter mold.
Having representation in the modeling industry is definitely encouraging, as Faith mentioned that she looked up to models, including plus size models, adding “if they can make it, I can make it”.
She has aspirations to move into fashion and commercial modelling and with her current work, we can agree she’s heading down the right path.
The main takeaways from speaking to Faith is, if you want it go for it, don’t hold back, put yourself in a position for opportunities because you never know how far it can take you.
