We all know that college can be expensive, and this is even truer for those students who are low-income. But now, thanks to the New Jersey City University (NJCU) and Jon Bon Jovi’s Soul Kitchen, students can get a three-course meal without breaking the bank. All they need to do is donate $12 or volunteer for one hour!
The NJCU Director of Student Services and Engagement, Zakiya Smith Ellis, has expressed her enthusiasm for the collaboration. She has stated that she hopes it will help those in need receive a nutritious meal while also assisting them with their studies. The restaurant is open Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and the menu changes every week so you don’t have to worry about getting bored of eating the same thing every day!
The goal of this program is to feed at least 60 students per day—which means that there will be no shortage of delicious meals for those in need. It’s also worth noting that all profits earned by the restaurant go right back into helping more students in need—so not only are you getting a tasty meal, but you’re also giving back to your local community! This is one partnership we can really get behind; it's always heartwarming when people come together in order to make a difference in their own communities, especially when it comes to something as fundamental as food access.
With this new collaboration between NJCU and Jon Bon Jovi’s Soul Kitchen, students can now enjoy a delicious three-course meal without worrying about how much it costs or whether they will be able to afford it at all. This initiative proves that there are still people out there who care about their communities and want to do what they can to help those in need—which is truly inspiring! If you are an NJCU student looking for an affordable way to get a nutritious meal or if you would like to donate some time or money towards this initiative, be sure to check out Jon Bon Jovi's Soul Kitchen website today! https://jbjsoulkitchen.org/
