A Winter Home Cleanse for the New Year

Updated: Nov 13, 2022

Beautiful Winter Holiday Ambiance

The new year is upon us, and what better way to start fresh than with a winter home cleanse? There's something about the cold weather that just makes us want to hunker down and get our nests in order. Plus, there's nothing like the satisfaction of knowing your home is clean and clutter-free heading into the new year. So grab your coziest blanket, put on some feel-good tunes, and let's get started!

1. Start with a declutter.

Declutter your home for the winter

Take some time to go through your belongings and get rid of anything you no longer need or use. This includes clothes, shoes, books, knick-knacks, old appliances, etc. Not only will this make your space feel cozy and inviting, it will also make cleaning much easier. Once you've decluttered, be sure to properly dispose of or recycle everything—we don't want all that extra stuff ending up in a landfill!

2. Give your floors a good cleaning.

Vacuum all the carpets and rugs, mop the hardwood or tile floors, and wash any throws or blankets. This is also a good time to spot-clean any stains. Bonus points if you can do all this without waking up your sleeping dog!

3. Deep clean the kitchen and bathroom.

Give your kitchen and bathroom a deep cleanse for the new year

These are two of the most important rooms in your home so you'll want to make sure they're extra sparkling. Scrub the sinks, toilets, showers/tubs, countertops, cabinets, and floors until they're gleaming. Don't forget to empty out the fridge and give it a good wipe-down as well!

4. Freshen up your windows and curtains.

Open up those curtains and blinds and let some fresh air in! Then take a damp cloth and wipe down all your windows—inside and out—to get rid of any fingerprints or smudges. If you have curtains or drapes, throw them in the wash (or dry clean them if they're delicate).

5. Dust everything—and we mean everything!

Clean and dust your home

Get all those nooks and crannies that you usually overlook when dusting—underneath furniture, on top of shelves, behind doors, etc. This is also a good time to dust any electronics like TVs or computers. And don't forget about those ceiling fans! They probably could use a good dusting too...eww! Phew! Now wasn't that satisfying? We bet your home feels cozy AF now—and it's ready to take on whatever 2023 has in store (fingers crossed it's better than 2022)! Happy cleansing!
