Artist Spotlight: Royce Castro

He is currently selling out shows across the country and creating major buzz in the industry reppin' Jersey 24/7.

What got you into Hip Hop?

Being the youngest of 5 brothers who all loved hiphop and a mother that was into the oldies so I guess you can say I was groomed for what I’m doing now

How would you describe yourself as an artist?

I’m just an artistic person who is inspired from everything that I encounter in life. I’m very observant so it transfers over into what I'm creating. I’m destined for greatness in life. Some of us find out what our actual calling for greatness is, and I’d say music is mine. I know my destiny is being an artist and touching lives through music.

What led to your style of delivery and beat-selection?

My style is very organic; I really pride myself on that . As far as my production goes, if a beat speaks to me, I’ll spit on it. I never like to have one style or put myself in one lane. When perfecting a craft you're supposed to master many things so that’s the blueprint I follow.

How do you think you differ from other artists?

I’m different because I’m me. My real name is my stage name. No pitch sales, no gimmicks. I'm just myself, Royce Castro.

What ‘s the most important item in your music collection?

Originality is the most important to me. You can’t say I sound like anyone, period.

Dead or alive, who would be your dream collaboration?

Dream Collaboration would be with Skyzoo he’s my favorite rapper of all time I do have a mean top 10 though lol

What’s the last track you listened to?

The last track I’ve been bumping really heavy is Tyler The Creator track Pothole off his latest album, Flower Boy. I listen to all types of music genres.

What was the biggest part of your journey thus far?

Getting to open for Scarface, Tech N9ne,Bone Thugs, Epmd, Styles P, and Curren$y

If you had to give advice to anyone attempting to get to the levels you have reached, what would you tell that individual?

You’ll be pushed to your limit you’ll question whether you wanna keep going. When that happens, keep going . You’ll sacrifice a lot but if you wanna achieve anything in life that happens. Know the business. You can’t just be a good rapper. There are wolves out here that will use the fact that you are chasing a dream against you. Invest your money wisely. Don’t make personal relationships with everyone in the industry. Keep a lot of it business. You’ll grow in other areas with others personally, naturally. Long story short, stay focused and keep pushing and going hard.
